What we log about your traffic, and for how long

Updated 2 min read

Short version: we log metadata about each request (when, where to, how big) so we can bill accurately and stop abuse. Never the contents. Connection logs are deleted after 30 days.

Logged for each request

  • Timestamp
  • Destination hostname
  • HTTP method
  • Response status code
  • Bytes sent and bytes received
  • Which of your credentials was used

Never logged

  • Request or response bodies
  • Full URLs with paths and query strings: the hostname only
  • Credentials, cookies or tokens you send through the proxy
  • Anything inside a TLS tunnel. We can't see in there.

Why we keep it

  • Billing you accurately, and answering when you question the meter.
  • Abuse reports. It's how we trace traffic someone complains about.
  • Keeping things running. Diagnosing failures and spotting pool problems.

How long

  • Connection logs: deleted after 30 days.
  • Account and billing records: kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, then deleted.
  • When your account is deleted, its connection logs go with it, without waiting for the 30-day mark.

Who sees it

Our payment processors (to take payment), our infrastructure providers (to run the service), and law enforcement only with a valid, binding legal order. We tell you about an order unless the law forbids it. We don't sell, rent or trade your data.
