Datacenter proxies: what you get

Updated 2 min read

Short version: a datacenter proxy is a fast server IP you rent for a term. It's yours alone on a dedicated plan, it never rotates, you pick the country at checkout, and it's the cheapest static IP we sell.

Good for

  • Bulk crawling sites that don't care where you come from
  • API polling and price monitoring
  • Jobs where speed matters more than looking residential
  • Learning to scrape without burning much money

Why it's cheap for heavy jobs

A server in a rack costs a fraction of a real home connection, and a dedicated datacenter IP has no traffic meter. Residential charges for every byte; a dedicated datacenter IP costs the same whether you move one gigabyte or a hundred.

Will it get blocked?

On sites that block hosting ranges, yes, and quickly. You'll see 403s, and we won't pretend otherwise. On most APIs, content sites and price feeds it works fine. Not sure about your target? Rent one IP on the shortest term and test, or ask us first.

What you choose when you order

  • Plan: shared, dedicated or premium. See Shared, dedicated or premium?.
  • Country. Picked at checkout, and the IP stays in it for the whole term. Some locations also let you narrow to a state or city; the order form shows when you can.
  • How many IPs.
  • Term: 1, 2, 3 or 12 months, paid up front. Longer terms take a discount.

On proxies that offer them, a faster uplink or more concurrency can be added once the proxy is running: see Adding bandwidth, concurrency or speed.

What you pay for

Per IP, for the term. Dedicated and premium have no traffic meter. The shared plan includes a small traffic allowance per IP and bills traffic past it per GB. If you'll push a lot of traffic through each IP, dedicated usually works out cheaper than shared plus extra traffic. Current prices: datacenter pricing.

Not the right fit if

The site hard-blocks hosting ranges. Go ISP, or residential once it's on sale.

Next: Ordering ISP or datacenter IPs.
