Shared, dedicated or premium?
Updated 2 min read
Short version: shared is the cheapest and comes with a small traffic allowance. Dedicated is yours alone, with no traffic meter. Premium is dedicated plus a fresh IP nobody has used before. ISP and datacenter both come in all three.
Shared
- The IP is used by up to 3 customers, so whatever they do on it follows you around.
- Comes with a small traffic allowance per IP. Need more? Add Extra bandwidth when you order, or Buy bandwidth later (later costs a bit more per GB).
- Fine for light, anonymous jobs. Not for logged-in accounts.
Dedicated
- The IP is yours alone for the term.
- No traffic meter.
- Where the proxy offers it, you can buy a faster uplink once it's running.
- The one for logged-in accounts. If you'd be buying a lot of extra traffic on shared, dedicated usually works out cheaper.
Premium
- Like dedicated, plus a fresh IP that nobody has used before. Speed upgrades aren't offered on premium.
- Worth it when an account has to start completely clean.
On every plan
- You pay per IP, for the whole term, up front. Terms are 1, 2, 3 or 12 months, and longer terms take a discount.
- The order size sets the rate: cross a rung and every IP in the order reprices.
- More concurrency is a paid add-on, bought for a proxy once it's running. See Adding bandwidth, concurrency or speed.
