Blocked by a site? Send us this
Updated 2 min read
Short version: tell us the site, what came back, and when. Everything else on this list just saves a round of back-and-forth. Send it to support@proxymonkey.io, or paste it into Report an issue on the proxy in your dashboard.
Three checks first
They often answer the question on their own:
-
Is the proxy alive? Ask an IP-echo service through it. If you get an IP back, the proxy works and it's the site saying no.
curl -sS --proxy "http://HOST:PORT" --proxy-user 'USERNAME:PASSWORD' https://api.ipify.org; echo -
Does the site work without the proxy? If it fails from your own connection too, it isn't us.
-
Does another site work through the proxy? If yes, the block is specific to that one site.
What to send
-
The site, with the exact page or API address. Skip login pages that need your personal account.
-
What came back. The status code, plus what the page looks like: an error, a CAPTCHA, a blank page, a redirect.
-
When. Date and time with your time zone. Every request, or only some?
-
How you asked. The command or tool and its settings, with the password blanked out:
curl -v --proxy "http://HOST:PORT" --proxy-user 'USERNAME:REDACTED' https://api.ipify.org -
Your exit IP, from the IP-echo check above.
-
What you've tried. Another session, a slower pace, other headers, a plain browser.
-
Which proxy. Its ID or name from the dashboard.
Never send
Passwords, API secrets, card numbers, or screenshots that show any of them. We don't need them to look at a block.
What we can and can't do
We can check the proxy side and suggest which of our lines suits that site. We can't make a site accept traffic it's decided to refuse, and we don't help with solving CAPTCHAs or challenges.
